Berkeley waste removal

I was born in Berkeley, moved to San Francisco for two years and am now back in Berkeley. I’ve also done my share of traveling throughout the U.S. and some parts of the world, but I’ve always felt most at home right here in my beloved Berkeley.

The Bay Area is such an incredible and progressive place. Much more so than the majority of the rest of the world. As it relates to All American Hauling, one of the things I’ve always loved about Berkeley and my friend Bryan is their mutual passion for recycling. Did you know that in 2007 in the United States, almost 85 million tons of trash was recycled? As staggering and incredible as those numbers are, the number is bigger today, and needs to continue to grow.

As you might imagine, most of what’s being recycled are plastic bottles and cans, but larger, more substantial metals are also big on the recycling list. Scrap metal from automobiles plumbing, old home parts such as pipes, railing and gutters are also recycled. Cars and old scrap metal have buyers and you can make a decent wallet-full of cash if you take yours in to your local recycling center.

One of the things people often don’t think about are guns and weapons. As we all know these days, there are plenty of guns and weapons floating around out there. Well, when the occasional raid or bust goes down and these are confiscated, what happens to them? Quite often they are melted down and recycled into other products.

Here’s an incriminating story: When I was a kid, my best friend and I would go play in some woods which backed up to a small community. There were dumpsters that backed up to the woods at one point and we’d always go explore when there was good junk sitting outside the trash bins. I remember finding an old TV and bringing it back into the woods where my buddy and I had a blast destroying this old TV with the biggest rocks we could find.

These days rather than smash a television with a rock, I’d be much more apt to recycle it. When analog signals ceased broadcasting in 2009, many TV’s were rendered useless junk. Companies like E Recycling in Hayward recycle not only the plastics and metals, but the cathode ray tube that’s found in old TV’s.

Whether you reside in Berkeley or anywhere else in the Bay Area, All American Hauling can help you effectively recycle and properly dispose of your junk and garbage.
